About Us

Under the University Hospitals EMS Training & Disaster Preparedness Institute (EMSI), UH TacMed proudly trains, equips, and oversees 310 fire and police departments all over Northeast Ohio in regards to tactical and operational training. UH TacMed also provides TEMS staffing to major events EMSI handles under the Event Medicine Team.

Meet the Team

UH TacMed's cadre is composed of individuals who are actively serving in what classes we provide. Our instructors range from TEMS medics, military veterans and trauma doctors. We strive to provide real life experience in everything we teach!

Anthony Daher

Medical Director

Anthony Daher is the medical director that oversees University Hospital's Tactical Medicine. Anthony attended Case Western Reserve University and did his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine with a subspecialty board certification in EMS. On top of Tactical Medicine, Anthony is the medical director of UH AirMed, a staff physician at UH Ahuja Medical Center and a tactical physician on Metro SWAT.

Joe Schuerger

Coordinator

Joe Schuerger is the coordinator for tactical medicine under University Hospitals. This division under UH EMSI covers training police and fire personnel rescue task force, TECC and and other operational medicine tailored to different organizations. Joe is also the EMS liaison for the 20 SWAT teams who use University Hospitals as their Medical Direction. Joe started his career in 2011 and is currently a full time Lieutenant at Twinsburg Fire. Joe is a TEMS medic for a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team where he now serves as the lead medic
